Commission for Holt Country Park - Call to Artists
North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) is seeking proposals from artists to work with adults with learning difficulties from Holt Day Care Centre to design and make a sculpture or series of sculptures for permanent siting on the Green Trail in Holt Country Park. This half-mile long trail is being redeveloped and upgraded as an Easy Access Trail to enable visitors with mobility/access issues to discover Trafalgar Avenue, Primrose Avenue and the Arch (for further details visit www.countrysideaccess.norfolk.gov.uk)
NNDC would like to commission an artist to work with clients from the Day Centre to explore issues of access and to create a piece/s of work (possibly sensory or text based) which can be viewed from a distance as well as explored up close. The work could also draw on the history of this part of the park as a track previously used for horse and carriage access to the lodge; and/or the primroses which grow here.
We envisage the selected artist working with the clients both in situ at the park and at the Holt centre. The finished work/s can be created on site or in the artist's own studio as appropriate. The materials used must be durable and robust and the work must be created with due attention to health and safety issues. CRB checks will be carried out.
The work must be completed by Friday 17th April 2009, when we are holding a Spring Event in the Country Park, focussing on wild flowers and recycled materials.
The all-inclusive fee for the project is £2500.
Project proposals muct include:
An up-to-date CV
• A minimum of six images of recent work as jpeg files or on disc
• A description of your project proposal which includes details of how you would work with the client group, sketches/information about the work to be produced, proposed materials and any themes/inspiration.
Please submit your proposals by Thursday 27th November 2008 to:

New Print Website
A Picture of Norfolk is a new on-line art business launched this month, set up to publish limited edition fine art prints of Norfolk's landmarks and landscapes by local artists using 'on-demand' digital print technology. The digital printing technique used is commonly called 'giclée' which creates high quality prints that are virtually indistinguishable from the originals and guarantees ink light-fastness for 75 years outside direct sunlight. Prints are supplied with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. The range of pictures available can be browsed on apictureofnorfolk.com and is searchable both by location and artist. The website also contains biographies of the local artists featured. Over 70 pictures of Norfolk's landmarks and landscapes by local artists have been collected together at apictureofnorfolk.com.
The site currently includes pictures by 10 local artists, including Bob Brandt's North Norfolk rural scenes, Gill Baguley's lively coast and seascapes, Gena Ivanov's vibrant pictures of Norwich and the coast and Jean Hawke's fine landscapes and architecture, with more artists being invited to submit their pictures.

Norfolk Contemporary Art Society - Photography Commission
The Norfolk Contemporary Art Society has won funding from the Wellcome Trust to curate a commissioned photography exhibition, Photo-ID, throughout August 2009 in the Forum, Norwich. There are nine commissions available, each for £3,000, for photographers working in the general area of 'identity'. The exhibition will be accompanied by a fully illustrated book and will be an integral part of CAN09 within the Norfolk and Norwich Festival.
The deadline for applications is November 29th 2008 and the commissions will be for 4 months from Jan 1st - April 30th, 2009.
This is a terrific opportunity, particularly for early career photographers across the east of England.
