Coastal Management Plan
NNDC is formulating a Coastal Management Plan (CMP) which aims to coordinate all the necessary actions to manage the impacts of coastal change in an effective and integrated fashion. The CMP is a non-statutory plan, which will follow the process outlined below. The involvement of local communities in the development of the plan is essential.

Determine the 'scope' of the CMP and its relationship with other plans and strategies |
A 'scoping meeting' was held in May 2008 |

Undertake research into the impacts of coastal erosion and the possible options to enable communities to adapt in response to it. |
Consultants were appointed to undertake an evidence gathering study. The final report and annexes are available to view or download below:

Develop a shared set of ideas about how we should go about managing coastal change |
A conference for representatives of coastal communities is planned for November 2008 |

Public participation on the draft CMP document |
Once the document has been drafted comments will be invited from the general public and other interested parties - expected to be summer 2009 |
