Whether you are a home owner, private or housing association tenant, or have no accommodation of your own, our Housing Options Team can offer advice on housing options and issues.

We offer a wide range of housing advice to anyone within the District who has a housing problem. The service is free of charge and confidential. We can be contacted on our freephone advice line 08000 855889.

Housing Options Service
The advice available includes:

  • how to deal with mortgage or rent arrears
  • harassment and illegal eviction
  • domestic violence and access to domestic violence alarms
  • loss of tied accommodation
  • loss of private rented accommodation
  • debt advice
  • housing and relationship breakdown
  • claiming housing benefit
  • assistance in completing a Common Housing Register application form.

Are you Homeless?
We aim, where possible, to prevent homelessness happening. If this is not possible, we aim to ensure that the best possible advice is available to assist you in securing accommodation. If you are homeless now or threatened with homelessness, it is important that you see a Housing Options Officer who will be able to assess whether North Norfolk District Council has a duty to secure accommodation for you.

The Council has a legal obligation to find you somewhere to live if you:

  • are eligible for assistance and
  • are homelessness or threatened with homelessness and
  • are in priority need and
  • not intentionally homeless and
  • have a local connection to the North Norfolk area.

If the Council does not have a legal duty to find you somewhere to live, you will be given advice and assistance to help you secure accommodation. The Advisory Officers have details of hostels, letting agents who let private properties and private landlords who may have vacancies.

So, whether you are homeless now, threatened with homelessness in the near future or just require advice, we are here to help.
