Current Vacancies:

Solicitor (Standards and Governance)(Ref 1903)

£30,456 to £33,231 per annum (pro rata)

(subject to confirmation of the national pay award and job evaluation)

Permanent - 18.5 hours per week

This is an opportunity for a Solicitor or Barrister to join our busy legal team in North Norfolk. The Council wants to support it's elected members and it's 126 parishes in delivering high quality services to the public. You will be working closely with parish and district members to ensure transparent, accountable and open government. This is a challenging job which not only involves administering the statutory Code of Conduct but helps Councils reach their potential through getting the right advice at the right time.

Conservation and Design Officer (Ref 1901)

Up to £25,320 per annum (pay award pending and subject to job evaluation) plus essential car user allowance

Permanent full or part time (up to 37 hours per week)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified graduate/professional to help safeguard its unique and very special Built Heritage. The person appointed will join the combined Conservation, Design & Landscape Team based at Cromer.

Your main role will be to provide building conservation and design guidance to the Council's Development Control Service and to developers and others seeking to develop land and thereby impact upon the existing and future built heritage of North Norfolk. However, you will also be engaged in the overall management of the historic environment (North Norfolk has over 2500 Listed Buildings, 82 Conservation Areas and 60 Scheduled Ancient Monuments in need of ongoing care and attention).

You should be conversant in the main principles of building conservation and have a sound knowledge of the regulations relating to Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas. A background in Planning or Architecture or a related discipline would also be an advantage.

Ideally you should hold or be studying for a degree or equivalent in Town Planning, Building Conservation or related subject and be eligible for corporate membership of the IHBC, RTPI or RIBA. Good customer care and negotiation skills will be needed as well as an ability to work to tight deadlines.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary, award winning team. Applications from recently qualified graduates will be welcomed, as well as those wishing to return to work after a career break or looking to maintain a flexibility of career structure through a part-time appointment.
