Polling Places Review - Changes in Two Parishes

24 December, 2007

A review of polling districts and polling places in North Norfolk is establishing new venues for voting in two parishes.

From next year, electors in Beeston Regis will vote at the Scouts' HQ on Cromer Road, and Little Snoring's voters will go to the village's primary school to cast their votes. All other polling places are unchanged. No changes are being made to polling districts, either.

The polling place for Beeston Regis is currently St Andrew's Methodist Church in Sheringham - outside the polling district for the village. Little Snoring's is currently in the pre-school building in the middle of the village playing field, so access will be improved by moving to a modern site.

The changes follow a review this year of polling districts (the areas into which wards and constituencies are broken down, so convenient electoral arrangements can be made for communities) and polling places (the buildings or areas where voting takes place - and which will house polling stations). The review was a chance for parish councils and the general public to say whether they thought the current arrangements were appropriate and accessible.

Parish councils serving very small populations were also asked if they wanted to combine polling places with adjacent polling districts, though none did.

The full report, along with details of how to approach the Electoral Commission if you have concerns about the review process, are available using the links below.
